Crimea – cool place. Had to serveduring the USSR in Alupka, 800m from Vorontsov Palace. The barracks stood right on the seashore. From the barracks to the sea on the sand meters 30.
We ran out in the morning to exercise at sunrise, running along the border of water and sand and then up to the Vorontsov Palace through Alupkinsky(Vorontsovsky) park.
At all, first impressions of Crimea, entering Yalta by car through the pass, just shocked me. Visiting different places in the USSR, I have never felt so clean anywhere, heady air. Think, that I was in some indescribable inner state. Combination of sea and evergreens(huge variety of flora) creates such a scent, that you feel bliss. Truth, you get used to it over time, but the morning aroma is special, when the fragrance of plants and marine(iodine) air.
Like an exemplary soldier, I went AWOL very often. The nature of Big Yalta allowed us to get away from unwanted gaze. Our soldier's paths were beaten along the most optimal routes between the lower and upper roads from Foros to Yalta. Knew every path, to get away from patrols and KGB guards( о них попозже). Considering, that I served after graduation and that someone needed me, I was given a book of clean leave, where I just had to fill in the time and date. And how many indelible impressions from the feeling of freedom, not being ruled by the martinets! In this way, later I could just drive around the hills of Big Yalta. During the service, I took the same route more than once, knew all the nooks and crannies. And then, after the service, I visited several times in different places of the Crimea.. Fell in love with Yalta and Crimea. This corner – gift природы ни за что бы не отдал.
As for the other value of this coast, so it was very well known…… it is clear to whom.
Many secluded elite possessions of the former top officials of the USSR on the coast. Не буду распространяться, but there are also secret objects of the USSR. Truth, I don’t know what is there now, passed 30 years.
In other words, Crimea – tasty. Was going to visit soon, but now….!!!
