Europe offers trading in US shares

In the next few weeks the London Stock Exchange’s Turquoise platform and NYSE Arca Europe will launch trading in US shares like Citi and Alcoa. The shares will be fully fungible, meaning a share can be easily bought in Europe and then sold in the US – and vice versa – thanks to innovative post-trade arrangements. Simmy Grewal, European analyst at consultancy group Aite, analyses how this might be a clever way for platforms to attract business.
