Telecom operators of the Ural region reported on the results of installation and testing of equipment with the function of deep traffic filtering (DPI), the use of which is provided for by the so-called law on the isolation of the Runet. Letters with reports are sent to the Deputy Minister of Digital Development, communications and mass communications of Oleg Ivanov, reports RBC.
Five operators - VimpelCom (Beeline), MTS, Rostelecom, ER-Telecom Holding (Дом.ru) and "Transtelecom" (TTK) - recorded cases of decrease in speed and deterioration of signal quality.
So, Beeline's Internet traffic speed dropped by half an hour in Miass, Chelyabinsk and Tyumen, and in Magnitogorsk the signal level dropped.
ER-Telecom Holding faced traffic transmission problems in Tyumen and received complaints about the quality of communication in Chelyabinsk. At the same time, the operator failed to block the Telegram messenger, because he "uses proxy servers with its own cryptographic encrypted signal transmission protocol".
As a result of an unnamed "incident" in Chelyabinsk, TTK lost communication, and at MTS, the installation of equipment in Magnitogorsk interrupted commercial traffic in the network.
Rostelecom recorded a failure duration 6 minutes.
Operators "T2 RTK Holding" (Tele2), MegaFon and Yekaterinburg-2000 ("Motive") did not reveal any problems with the quality and availability of communication for subscribers. However, Tele2 had to suspend traffic transmission through DPI equipment several times due to software problems..
According to a source of RBC, close to one of the test participants, after testing, “the teams of the integrator and the equipment manufacturer eliminated all identified problems, and the system was successfully delivered to the state customer ".
Despite the statement by a number of operators that, that the pilot testing project does not allow assessing the real capabilities of technical means when working with large volumes of traffic, Ministry of Telecom and Mass Communications, supervising the project, found further testing inappropriate.
The so-called law on the isolation of the Runet, which is designed to ensure the stable operation of the Russian segment of the Internet in the event of disconnection from the global network or coordinated attacks, It entered into force 1 november 2019 of the year, although the implementation of some of its provisions has been postponed until 2021 of the year.
The state budget will allocate at least 30 billion rubles. According to a number of operators, Runet isolation can slow down the speed of the Internet connection in 625 once.
