Polar expedition to Fort Totleben

Visited Fort Totleben today. This is an artificial island in the Gulf of Finland, poured into 18 century to repel enemy attacks on St. Petersburg. The route in the picture in the form of a blue line is 5 km one way.

I went skiing on the frozen Gulf of Finland.

On one side is a large land

On the other is Fort Totleben

And I'm in the middle

Fort Totleben is getting closer and closer

And suddenly, in the midst of the silence, a low-frequency rumble began to grow, followed by deafening explosions of ice — gone long cracks. I almost lost my heart to this horror :)

Almost there

And here he is, Fort Totleben

During the Great Patriotic War, artillery strikes were made from here on German troops

Here, there must have been a spinning cannon

Observation post. From here the unit commander looked through binoculars

Only walls remained from the soldiers' barracks

DUK was here

There is nothing inside for a long time

It clearly needs to be renovated
