Easy come, easy gone

Although economists are guided behavioral approach, consider how a sense of regret, which is annoying from time to time by all traders, psychological studies show that some people are more inclined to feel that feeling, as compared to other people. All traders are experiencing grief after the wrong trading decision, which could have been avoided, but some players blamed themselves regardless of circumstances. Once such players will miss a large market movement or receive more “product”, they begin to analyze their actions and blame themselves that they have committed. They want to go back in time, to do everything differently, they can not stop, calculating what they did wrong.

How to overcome the feeling of regret? It all depends on how big a problem it is for you. For some people, such a model of behavior goes back to early childhood. Thus, they forced children to feel guilty. When a child becomes an adult, it can automatically transfer this model of behavior has on their adult mistakes. It is difficult to cultivate in themselves the principle of “easy come, easy gone” when you are too critical of yourself. In this case, a very useful technique that psychologists call “cognitive restructuring”.

Using this technique, a person can realize his “inner conversation” or “automatic thoughts” that hide behind regret. For example, these: “I must be perfect. All the failures are my fault. I deserve punishment for their mistakes. ” To counter these thoughts, which are constantly appearing, it is mandatory to consciously demonstrate their inadequacy. For example, as an illustration of this approach (only one of the illustrations) can be the person who writes a refuted judgments on the card, like this: “I do not have to be perfect. Occasionally there will be setbacks, it’s not my fault. All make mistakes. I should not blame yourself for no reason. ” If you once read the card, maybe it will not help. Old habits are hard to break. You will have to reread these spells again and again to learn new behaviors. (Some readers may not understand the idea, outlined above. All these allegations are not “pledges” that will reprogram your “unconscious.” Instead, I propose to use cognitive strategies to change the style of thinking). It is important to understand that it is very difficult to get rid of behaviors that were formed many years ago and have constantly worked for many years. Perhaps, learning new patterns of thinking will take you some time, but by practice as possible. The key to success is identifying your own belief system that requires change, and practice a new style of thinking with a view to a permanent change in the old system.

Regardless of whether common or rare, you feel regret, it is important to first identify the problem and to take specific steps for the cultivation of sentiment, which will allow you to trade freely, creatively and profitably.
